First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) today on Thursday it has finalised the divestment of the 141-MW Luz del Norte solar photovoltaic (PV) park in Chile to local independent asset manager Toesca.
The value and terms of the transaction were kept under wraps.
Located northeast of the city of Copiapo, in northern Chile’s Atacama Desert, the solar farm is equipped with over 1.7 million of First Solar’s proprietary thin-film modules. It was commissioned in 2016 and in 2020 became the world’s first known utility-scale solar plant licensed to deliver ancillary grid services commercially. The status was received after Chilean independent system operator (ISO) Coordinador Electrico Nacional added the plant to a list of facilities allowed to deliver a range of grid services, including automatic generation control (AGC).
