The Biden administration, responding to a request by South Korean solar cells manufacturer Hanwha Qcells, is poised to reinstate tariffs on dominant bifacial solar panel technology imported from China and other nations by reversing a two-year-old trade waiver, Reuters reported, citing insiders. Qcells’ plea, which was presented to the US Trade Representative in February, is said to be aimed at protecting the company’s USD-2.5-billion (EUR 2.35bn) US solar manufacturing expansion plan from cheaper Asia-made products.
