The US Department of the Treasury and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on Wednesday released proposed guidance on the technology-neutral clean electricity incentives in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The IRA provides for a transition from the existing Production Tax Credit and Investment Tax Credit to the Clean Electricity Production Credit (45Y) and the Clean Electricity Investment Credit (48E) for projects placed in service after the end of 2024. The new credits offer incentives to any clean energy facility that achieves net zero greenhouse gas emissions.
