The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a US government regulator, has had a suite of hydrogen policies added to its remit for four years, aimed at making the US a global leader in H2 for aviation. The updated remit is provided for in a new law, the “Hydrogen Aviation Strategy Act”, which was originally introduced to the US Senate by Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Lindsey Graham, in order to make the FAA responsible for creating a framework for the safe and efficient use of H2 to reduce emissions from aircraft while also tackling air and noise pollution.
