1. A system of providing power flow control with fault current protection for a power grid, the system comprising: a plurality of groups of modular flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS) devices, each group of modular FACTS devices without fault current protection, wherein each modular FACTS device of each group of modular FACTS devices is to be coupled in series with a power transmission line of the power grid to provide control of power flow on the power transmission line; and a plurality of modular fault current protection devices configured to provide fault current protection to the plurality of groups of modular FACTS devices, wherein each of the plurality of modular fault current protection devices is in parallel with a respective group of the plurality of groups of modular FACTS devices; wherein the system is in a modular arrangement and is to be coupled to the power transmission line with the plurality of groups of FACTS devices in series. |
