수소를 연소실에 직접 분사하는 수소 엔진에 관한 것이다. 직접분사 인젝터 선단과 실린더 헤드 삽입공 내벽 사이의 공간(색)에 텀블 유동으로 유입된 수소가 연소 후에도 고온 상태로 잔류하면 다음 분사 시 조기점화 같은 이상연소를 일으킬 수 있으므로, 이 공간에 구리를 주성분으로 하는 스페이서 부재를 배치해 잔류 수소의 체류와 발화를 억제한다. 스페이서는 삽입공 내벽에 접착 고정할 수 있고 분사된 수소가 통과하는 구멍을 가질 수 있어, 인젝터 니들 마모 방지 기능을 유지하면서 수소 엔진의 이상연소를 줄인다. 특허 원문 발췌
