The Minister gave a brief on the country’s climate change mitigation during a dinner hosted by the Forum and expressed concern about the negative impact caused by climate change and the primary obligation to participate in protecting vulnerable people.
The Minister highlighted Cambodia’s initiative as the chair of ASEAN in 2022 on the concept of the ASEAN Green Deal in order to lead ASEAN towards a green future. This initiative demonstrates Cambodia’s strategic commitment to tackling the climate crisis, especially to achieve carbon neutrality.
He added that all sectors should go hand in hand with programs and projects aimed at reducing CO2 emissions in line with Cambodia’s commitment in the Paris Agreement.
Sorasak stated that although Cambodia is a country with low emissions, Cambodia has been actively involved in mitigating climate change. Cambodia has allocated a number of budget packages for climate-related activities and renewable energy.
