The EU saw record renewables generation in the first quarter of 2024 amid continued low electricity demand, according to a report from energy data analyst Montel EnAppSys, released last Thursday. Renewables generation reached a record high of 375.9 TWh, surpassing the previous peak of 358.4 TWh in the previous quarter, driven by an increase in hydro generation. Wind output was 175.6 TWh, slightly below the 177.4 TWh in the previous quarter but still the second highest on record.
