The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has presented a draft royal decree to promote biomethane in the Spanish energy system by setting a minimum increasing share in natural gas sales. The measure, which is subject to a public hearing and receives allegations until 11 June, sets the objective of achieving a penetration of 6% in 2035, starting from 0.5% in 2028, in the national market for natural gas and liquefied natural gas for uses other than transport.
