The plenary of the European Parliament has called for the European Union (EU) to be able to restrict certain exports of strategic materials to prevent resources that could be recycled and reused in European industry from leaving the community territory, in addition to creating a specialised body to manage reserves and coordinate joint purchases of raw materials essential for sectors such as battery manufacturing, electric vehicles, electronic components and defence equipment.
